It stems from a years-long legal battle where Apple admitted it used software updates to purposely slow down its phones.
Apple customers who purchased certain iPhones can now submit claims for approximately $25 per phone. It is part of Apple’s settlement of a class action lawsuit which accused it of slowing down older iPhone devices.
The settlement is applicable to customers who purchased the iPhone 6, 6 Plus, 6s, 6s Plus, 7, 7 Plus and or the SE before December 21, 2017. In addition, these same customers must have experienced performance issues. More details can be found on the site set up for users to submit claims. Apple will pay “per eligible device.” This means owners of multiple impacted iPhones can submit multiple claims.
Users affected by this must submit a claim either online or via mail by October 6, 2020 to be eligible for such a payout.
