Over a decade ago, I had the pleasure of watching Adam Greenberg play a college baseball game when he played a road game with the University of North Carolina Tar Heels in New Jersey. I had the pleasure of watching the game sitting next to two people. These two people turned out to be Greenberg’s parents. Since then, I was a Adam Greenberg fan!

Back in 2005, in his Major League Baseball debut with the Chicago Cubs, Greenberg was beaned in the head with a pitch on his first at-bat.  Unfortunately at the time, this ended his Major League Baseball career.  After dealing with numerous repercussions after this injury, through his personal endurance, strength & perseverance, he has continued to keep his faith to one day become a Major League Baseball player again.

Thanks to one of his fan’s, an online petition was created earlier this year to get Greenberg his first official Major League Baseball at-bat. The campaign succeeded when the Miami Marlins offered Greenberg a one-day contract to play in their Tuesday, October 2, 2012, game against the New York Mets.

For all of you South Floridian’s who like the Miami Marlins and enjoy a feel good story, go to the Miami Marlins game against the New York Mets on Tuesday, October 2nd next week and cheer for Adam Greenberg, your newest Miami Marlin!

I’m wishing you the best Adam!
